History of Japanese mascots - Muteki

Leo, host of a radio show in the Lyon area dedicated to Japanese music and culture, invites you to discover the world of unusual Japanese mascots in a good mood. We often think of Hello Kitty, Kumamon or Mogs in Final Fantasy. For Japan Impact, Leo will focus on mascots related to nature and plants. Don’t forget your smartphone, because an interactive quiz will be organized during the conference. And who is it? Some gifts are waiting for you ;)

Japanese Station Melody - Muteki

Sound stroll to the sound of “Hassha Melodies”, the melodies announcing the departure of trains in Japan. Conference accompanied by a small blind-test.

Jessica Jung

Jessica Jung, aka Lady Morigane, is a comic book illustrator and author. She is known for her major role in the making of the “Legends” spin-offs, and for her work as an illustrator on “Hearthstone”. She will be present for autographs on her booth during the whole show and on stage for a drawing battle.

Jessica Jung is invited this year by our partner Melectronics.

It will be present for signings on its stand on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 5.30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. She will compete against Elsa Brants and Reno Lemaire, guests of our partner Migros Melectronics, in a Drawing Battle on Saturday, from 3 to 4:30 pm in the NATSU room.

Julien Fontanier - Japanese initiation

Meet Julien Fontanier, the teacher who democratized the learning of Japanese on YouTube! He will be present on his booth during the whole fair, where you can find his famous posters allowing you to learn hiragana, katakana and kanji with the names of manga characters! Julien Fontanier will also give every day an introduction to Japanese on stage, the ideal way to start learning the language!

Kintsugi

History, technique and explanation of traditional kintsugi. Kintsugi is a technique of repairing ceramics, making marks, scars that are beautiful. Sometimes gold is added. I make the parallel between repairing an object and repairing an inner break, because every break deserves the most beautiful repair.

Rond Bleu Workshop

Risography is a printing process of Japanese origin close to screen printing, at the crossroads between manual and mechanical printing. Its main difference, among others, is the use of ecological inks based on soy. Completely aligned with a demand for ecological alternatives, risography also allows to produce prints with bright and original colors.

Atelier Rond Bleu, printing workshop based in Geneva (Switzerland) and its founder Kristell Silva Tancun, passionate about Japan, will be happy to show you this wonderful printing process during the Japan Impact.

Jean Freund, a French publisher specializing in the creation of illustrated posters and books on Japan, spent 12 years in Tokyo. During this conference he will explain how working in Japanese society led him to quit his job to become an illustrator when he was destined to climb the ladder within a renowned multinational.
